Cabinet Layout Explained:
- A - Cabinet Fan Tray, used to pull air through the cabinet to aid cooling, used in full cabinet enclosures.
- B - 19 Inch Racking, the basic frame structure of the cabinet to which all the sides, top and bottom are normally attached, the bottom is normally left open.
- C - UTP Patch Panels, normally CAT5E UTP patch panels are installed; each UTP cable is terminated to a socket or module on the panel. Panels can be 24 way and 1U in height or 48 way and 2U in height.
- D - UTP to Fibre Optic Media Converters is used to convert an electric data signal to a data light signal and back to an electrical data signal. These are used for getting a data signal over long distances or between buildings using a fibre-optic cable.
- E - Network Switches, are used to distribute the data signal from one port to all the other ports on the switch, meaning that a P.C patched into one port can be seen by other P.C's patched into any of the other ports. Switches can have 24 ports or 48 ports and are 1U to 2U in height. Managed switches can be monitored remotely.
- F - 19 Inch Cabinet Strip, used to supply power to multiple pieces of communications equipment, can be attached to the 19 inch racking at the back of the cabinet.
- G - CMS Cable Management System, used to keep patch cables tidy between communications equipment and UTP patch panels, can be attached to the 19 inch racking at the front of the cabinet.
- H - Cabinet Feet and Castors.
